‘Well Informed’ 1 hour Session

Screening -water‘Well Informed’ 1 hour Session is an education program that gives well owners the opportunity to have their well water samples to be screened for common contaminants including fecal coliform bacteria, nitrates, and high salinity. The screening of the water sample is followed by a 1 hour explanation of the screening results and water well protection practices and focuses on wellhead protection and recommendations for remediating well contamination.   

Upcoming Well Screenings

August 8th, 2016 – Jim Hogg County, TX 

Pick Up // August 1st—5th 

  • Pick up sample containers at least a week before turn in date
  • Sample containers can be picked up at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Jim Hogg County, 201 N. Oak, Suite 9 in Hebbronville

Drop Off // August 8th 

  • Drop off samples between 8:30—10:00am
  • Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Jim Hogg County, 201 N. Oak, Suite 9 in Hebbronville 

Results Meeting // August 10th 

  • A meeting explaining screening results will be held at 6:00 p.m., August 10
  • First National Bank, 305 N. Smith Street in Hebbronville.  

August 8th, 2016 – Brooks County, TX 

Pick Up Containers // Aug. 1—5

  • Containers available at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Brooks County, 219 Calixto Mora Avenue, Courthouse Annex in Falfurrias
  • Samples must be collected within 24 hours of drop off

Drop Off // Aug. 8

  • Drop off samples between 8:30—10:00 am on Aug. 8th at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Brooks County, 219 Calixto Mora Avenue, Courthouse Annex in Falfurrias
  • Indicate whether your sample is from a drinking water source

Results Meeting // Aug. 9

  • A meeting explaining screening results will be held at 6:00 pm, Aug. 9th at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office for Brooks County, 219 Calixto Mora Avenue, Courthouse Annex in Falfurrias

August 8th, 2016 – Webb County, TX

Pick Up // Aug. 1—5

  • Containers available at either of the following locations:
    1. Bruni Community Center, 303 E. 12th Street in Bruni
    2. AgriLife Extension office for Webb County, 7209 E Saunders St., Ste. 5 in Laredo
  • Samples must be collected within 24 hours of drop off

Drop Off // Aug. 8

  • Drop off samples between 8:30—10:00 am, Aug. 8 at either of the following locations:
    1. Bruni Community Center, 303 E. 12th Street in Bruni

  • AgriLife Extension office in Starr County, 500 N. Britton Ave, in Rio Grande City  -or-
  • Starr County Precinct #4 Warehouse, 3938 FM 755 in La Glora
  • Samples must be taken within 24 hours of drop off 

Drop Off // August 9th 

  • Drop off samples between 8:30—9:30am at either location on August 9th
